Intramurals

2008-2009

Monroe Intramurals are sports related activities that are set up to encourage students to get involved in school programs. They are set up to help develop skills, build self-esteem, enhance school spirit, teach sportsmanship and encourage fun. It is our intention to divide the students by skill and/or by grade level when appropriate. This program is an extension of our Interscholastic Sports and our Physical Education classes. There is no charge to participate in these intramurals.

The following is a list of the intramural sports offered and the starting dates:
Football Sept 2-Sept 25 Mon-Thurs PM
Soccer Sept 29-Oct 23 Mon-Thurs PM
7th/8th Boys Basketball Sept 29-Oct 23 Mon-Thurs AM
7th/8th Girls Basketball Dec 8- Jan 15 Mon-Thurs AM
Floor Hockey Jan 26 - Feb 19 Mon-Thurs PM
Volleyball Feb 23 - March 19 Mon-Thurs AM
6th Girls & Boys Basketball April 6-April 30 Mon-Thurs AM
6th Grade Games May 4-May 28 Mon-Thurs AM

All AM intramurals are from 7:00am - 7:50am. and all PM intramurals from 3:00 - 4:00pm.

Some changes to this schedule may occur and meetings to review rules and/or to pick/draft teams may be scheduled. It is the responsibility of the student to listen to the daily school announcements and during Physical Education classes for this information.

The afternoon intramurals will be from 3:00 - 4:00pm and the activity bus will be available for bus riders who attend the afternoon intramurals.  Students are encouraged to attend intramurals on a daily basis in order to run tournaments.

Students will be asked to begin to sign-up one week before the start of the intramural and will be allowed to join at any time during the session.  If you have any questions about intramurals, please contact Mr. Kero at Monroe.
