DRESS CODE
District 200's dress code reads:
The decision regarding the extent to which a student's dress disrupts the school environment is made by the school administration based on the following guidelines and prohibitions:
| ** |
Hats, headgear, and gloves may not be worn in the building. |
| ** |
Apparel that promotes or advertises drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, or other inappropriate activities is not permitted. |
| ** |
All clothing must cover the student from the shoulders to the mid-thigh. |
| ** |
Transparent items, strapped shirts, strapless tops, nightwear, and items normally worn as undergarments, but displayed as outerwear, are prohibited. |
| ** |
Tattoos will require clothing or other coverage if determined to be inappropriate in the school setting. |
| ** |
Shoes must be worn at all times. |
At Monroe, we believe that our students should wear clothing that is appropriate for a middle school setting. To define this, we are requiring student students to use the following guidelines to determine their dress for each school day.
| ** |
Students may only wear shirts (or dresses) with sleeves: shoulders need to be covered at all times. |
| ** |
All pants should be pulled up to normal waist height and pLant hems should not drag on the floor. |
| ** |
No underwear or bra straps may be exposed. |
| ** |
Shirts must cover the midriff and back. |
| ** |
Shorts must cover legs to mid thigh. |
| ** |
All other clothing should not be revealing. |
Parents will be contacted and required to bring appropriate clothing for the day.
